CRADLE MOUNTAIN SIGNATURE WALK

Walk with us into a World Heritage site. A seven-day guided walk along the iconic Overland Track.

Tasmania’s Overland Track is famous the world over and our signature trip is the way to experience it in classic style. Across seven days, our most popular Overland experience completes the full journey from World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair.

The fully guided walk begins at Red Feather Inn outside of Launceston, where we meet for a welcome dinner and briefing the night before we start the journey to Cradle Mountain. Over the next six days, we take you on a journey over the 65 kilometres through to Lake St Clair, Australia’s deepest natural lake. Our signature adventure does not include multiple side trips, but there is the opportunity on Day 4 to summit Mount Ossa.

Come join our most loved iconic walk.

What our guests say

6 days on the Overland Adventure Walk. Bus trip to Cradle Mt National Park. Rain, wind, clouds, rain gear, up the track we go. Terrible conditions, no Cradle today, the weather gets better, the guide says up Barn bluffs we go. Made it to the top. Wind, cloud, no view, back down we go. Arrive at hut. Take a hot shower, have a good meal, relax, and dry out gear.

Next day, sun, sunburn, sunscreen, wombat, tiger snake, leeches, currawongs, honey eaters, and many more. Mt Oakleigh climb, beautiful view. Mt Ossa climb and Mt Pelion East same day, sore legs, sore feet, beautiful sunny day, who cares keep marching on.

Waterfall, plains, mountains, forest, mud, water. No such thing as a waterproof boot on this track. Finally, a cold swim in the Narcissus River. Brrrr. I'm from Canada and that was cold (but much needed for my sore muscles).

What a great adventure! Excellent guides, Piotr, Ellie and Luke. A must to anyone for a Tasmania adventure.

Day one could only be described as wild! We had snow, hail and gale-force winds climbing up to the plateau and Marion’s lookout. Lunch in a snowstorm and putting our trust and faith in our guides, Aaron and Nana. They did not disappoint, we were led through this first day with skill and when we arrived at our first hut (maybe in a little shock from the wildness of it all) we were met with a warm, dry hut that enveloped us. Nana had hot drinks and food waiting for us. It was wonderful!

From this baptism, the trip continued to deliver delights with beautiful sunshine days, rain, mud and a wombat joining us for lunch. At the end of each day, we were met with the comfort of the TWC huts - hot showers, comfy lounges, warm sleeping bags - oh and wine! Looking forward to doing more trips with this company. They know their stuff. Thanks, TWC, especially Nana and Aaron.

We shared a wonderful and memorable experience with 12 great girls- (all connected friends) some old, and some new, walking the Cradle Mountain Overland Track.

Throw in a few sisters, cousins and our 2 fabulous guides Nana and Sam, and it was an adventure I will never forget. Most of us found the walk challenging to varying degrees. The scenery and comradery made it all worthwhile, with plenty of chatting and laughs along the way, but also lots of time to contemplate and let your mind wander.

The care, patience, knowledge and genuine hard work of our guides were next level. Sam and Nana made an amazing time even better with their sense of fun, tolerance, openness and acceptance. We apologise for some of the things you had to listen to, and thanks for sharing some enlightening sides to your lives, also!!

Wow. The Tasmanian Walking Co experience far exceeded my expectations in every way - particularly our guides. Piotr and Brandon had SO much knowledge of the local area and indigenous history, I was really impressed with them. It's fair to say that these guides are the reason for the success of the Tas Walking Co - they are the good reputation, they are the positive experiences had by guests, they are the energy and soul put into the journey.

Of course, the huts, food, location and experiences were wonderful too - I can't fault anything at all.

What an amazing what to hike the Overland, we will definitely be booking with TWC again.
